Illuminated Contexts
My stone boots crumbled and I sat with crossed legs
Upon a carpet of painted flame, rainbows pouring through my hands
Like sweet wounds of grace bleeding peace for all this world to see.

One of the most notable aspects of the “Dare to love yourself…” quote has been its tendency to inspire corresponding visual art and photography. Some of this art, like that of the Australian artist Leanne M. Williams above, has incorporated the text as part of the image. Some has simply paired original art or selected images with the quote for posts in micro-blogs.
There are also some instances in which the text and image do not form a true fit because the quote is obviously being utilized for unauthorized commercial purposes. In other instances, such as those seen on this page and throughout the website, words and illustration combine to make statements about the beauty, and grace, and joy that become possible when regarding oneself with some sense of sacred affection. Each medium enhances the illuminated qualities of the other.
I am indebted and express my gratitude at this time to all those who have let me know about various posts and shared them. In addition, I greatly appreciate those who have endeavored to honor the original spirit and intent of the work.
